ONGOING!! Second Harvest is always in need of more food. Please continue to bring items for our blue bin. Many Thanks From Joyce Traugot I want to thank all our members for their continued support of our High Holy Day Food Drive. Once again we have come through in a big way in support of Marty's Mission, our food drive in support of Second Harvest Food Bank. We are always collecting food or checks made out to Second Harvest, to support families who are in need of assistance at this time in their lives. Please call the Temple office if you have additional questions, or would like to volunteer to assist on this important committee. Thanksgiving Turkey Trot! Once again we are going to have a Turkey Trot during the month of November. The Turkey Trot is an easy way to support Marty's Mission and secure Thanksgiving Dinner for families in need of assistance. All we ask is that you send a check to the Temple made out to Second Harvest Food Bank. We will be sure to get these checks to Second Harvest in time to purchase lovely Thanksgiving dinners, For each $10.oo donation we are able to feed three or four families. Second Harvest does a wonderful job in getting these meals to many needy families. Please mark "Marty's Mission" in the memo section of your check. Leave or mail your checks to the Temple office. Any questions? Please call the Temple office for more information.

Each Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitvah student develops a special Mtzvah Project in conjunction with studying for the ceremony itself. As this information becomes available, it will be posted below. Please help our students serve their community and "be a light unto the nations." Give your support to their Mitzvah Projects.
Elena Reineri: For Elena's mitzvah project, she has been volunteering at Pond Gap Elementary since late summer. This is an urban elementary school with many at-risk children. There, she works with the younger children and helps them do their homework, play games, and do physical activites. She also listens to them, laughs with them, and teaches them right from wrong. Elena loves being with the children and enjoys the feeling she gets when she is teaching them something new. She plans to continue volunteering through her middle school days and hopefully in high school as well.
Avery Wilhite: Avery has been working at the Therapeutic Riding Academy of Knoxville (TRAK). Children with disabilities are learning and rehabbing through the love of horses. Avery has learned all about the care of horses and assisted several kids with their rehab. She assists in many ways whether she is guiding a horse or playing with the kids. Avery also volunteered her time at the TN State Fair to make people aware of TRAK. Avery loves this project so much that she plans to continue even when her Bat Mitzvah is over!
